BLEKINGE INDUSTRY TO CREATE THOUSANDS OF NEW JOBS
Blekinge’s industry is leading the global green transition, creating significant opportunities for the region. Techtank, an industrial cluster representing approximately 65 companies with 10,000 employees in and around Blekinge, works to strengthen industrial competitiveness and growth.

• Techtank is a regional industrial cluster jointly owned by Region Blekinge and the five municipalities of Blekinge.
• 12 well-known brands are part of Techtank’s network for large industrial companies with more than 250 employees in Blekinge: AAK, Alfa Laval, Dynapac, Hanza, NKT, Roxtec, Saab Kockums, Shiloh, Södra Cell, Tarkett, TitanX, Volvo Cars.
• Other members include small and medium-sized enterprises – product owners, subcontractors, and service providers supplying the industry.
5,000 New Jobs Expected by 2028
Growth remains strong across many companies. A recent study conducted with Teknikcollege reveals that Blekinge’s industry will need approximately 5,000 new employees by 2028.
“Our research shows the demand isn’t just for engineers – there’s an even greater need for production-related positions. While this presents an enormous challenge, it also offers tremendous opportunity,” says Ingela Håkansson.
Focus on Workforce Development and Sustainability
Techtank primarily focuses on upskilling existing employees, actively facilitating professional development within the industry.
“There’s a significant need to build new competencies, especially in sustainability and circularity, driven by the green transition,” says Ingela Håkansson.
Green Transition Creates Business Opportunities
The green transition is creating substantial business opportunities and success for Blekinge. Many companies, especially larger ones, already possess expertise in reducing climate impact. These companies rely on small and medium-sized enterprises to maintain sustainable practices.
“We actively work to strengthen companies’ sustainability initiatives, ensuring they remain relevant and at the forefront,” Ingela Håkansson explains.

To meet workforce demands, Techtank has launched several initiatives:
