Poland – Southern Sweden matchmaking event with more than 150 participants focused on generating new business opportunities

On 29–30 September, Business Blekinge together with Almi Sydsverige organised a matchmaking event in Karlskrona aimed at creating opportunities for new business and stronger connections between Poland and Sweden.

The event would not have been possible without strong collaboration between several organisations, says Peter von Trampe, investment advisor at Business Blekinge and initiator of the event. We had high ambitions from the start, but the response has exceeded all expectations.
During the event, around 100 companies and more than 150 registered participants were given the opportunity to book meetings with each other and explore potential interest in new business collaborations.

In November 2024, the governments of Sweden and Poland signed a strategic partnership that includes cooperation in trade and defence. The importance of this was emphasised by Poland’s Ambassador to Sweden, Karolina Ostrzyniewska, who attended and spoke at the event. The ambassador highlighted that our countries are connected through shared history, geography and a common future, and added that she was in Karlskrona to help build that future together with us.

Other highlights of the event included Saab Kockums, which presented its operations in Karlskrona as well as its already well-established collaboration with Poland in several areas. Fredrik Udd spoke about business cultures in both countries and described the significant potential for Swedish companies in Poland, noting that trade between Sweden and Poland has increased by 400% since Poland joined the EU 20 years ago. Guests from the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Sebastian Magier, and the Swedish-Polish Chamber of Commerce, Jacek Ziolkowski, shared valuable insights into how bilateral cooperation drives economic growth and how they support companies on both sides of the border. Stena Line also participated, describing its long-term investment in the route and how it has become a stable and profitable part of its operations.

On the second day of the conference, Business Blekinge arranged a tailored programme for the ambassador, including visits to Blekinge Institute of Technology, NKT and Saab Kockums. The County Governor also hosted a lunch with several guests from across the region, which the delegation attended.

The event was carried out in collaboration between Business Blekinge, Almi Sydsverige, Karlskrona Municipality, EEN, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, the Swedish-Polish Chamber of Commerce, Exportcenter Syd, Business Region Kronoberg and Invest in Halland, with funding from Region Blekinge, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and the European Regional Development Fund.
