Plastic film is a semi-finished product that is used in an infinite number of end products. Plastic film is found in things that we are surrounded by and come into contact with daily. At the same time, it is a product that has required many years of development to reach today’s sustainable design. Riflex Film in Ronneby is responsible for a large part of that development.
Plastic film is used, among other things, to create glossy printed matter, but also for cinema screens. Plastic film is also used in various medical aids and as liner material in pools and ponds. The latter category of products was moved from Germany to Ronneby during the pandemic. Nowadays, all liner material is manufactured in the factory in Ronneby.
Riflex Film has made a fantastic journey in recent years. It took off during the pandemic and since then the company has had steady growth. More application areas for plastic film have been added. Riflex Film now also manufactures film for protective equipment in industry and healthcare, as well as foils for the defense industry, among other things.
“We sell our film all over the world, but we are also affected by the major investments that are being made and will be made in Blekinge. There is a lot happening here and we want to be part of that growth”, says Mathias Granath, CEO of Riflex Film.
The major industrial investments are putting Blekinge on the map and Riflex Film is benefiting greatly from this, just like all other active and innovative companies in the region.
Riflex Film focuses a lot on sustainability, both in the development of the material and in how it takes care of its employees.
“We are a process industry running around the clock, almost all year round. This requires a lot of staff. We have managed to recruit the best in the industry. We still need to grow. What we can compete with is a really good workplace, where you get to be part of developing tomorrow’s sustainable products that are needed everywhere”, emphasises Mathias.
One might ask plastics; to be or not to be? Riflex Film manufactures the world’s highest-quality products in the plastic film segment. These are mostly high-tech products with very high demands on quality and performance. This also determines the choice of raw material in the film that is manufactured.
The raw materials are so refined that they are approved for contact with food, even though Riflex Film does not yet operate in the food sector. However, the company is growing together with customers in other segments, such as cinema and home cinema, vehicle interiors and protective equipment for the industry.
Mathias explains that the greatest growth right now is in the area of technical films for industrial applications. These are highly specialised films for various applications, not just protective clothing and protective equipment.
– We are in the midst of a shift from bulk film to specialty film. I can say without exaggeration that we are one of the best in Europe and perhaps even the world when it comes to this type of film.
Mathias is very proud of the journey that Riflex Film has made and is still making. Nowadays, high-tech products with high value are what matter.
