Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Visits Blekinge
Ambassador Per Thöresson and Deputy Director Pernilla Liljeson engaged with leading companies and organizations, discussing Blekinge’s future on the global stage.
As one of Sweden’s most export-intensive regions, Blekinge plays a key role in the nation’s economic success. The region combines innovation and tradition, hosting both small enterprises and global players, with a unique ability to connect local expertise to international markets. The Ministry’s visit underscores Blekinge’s significance and future potential, says Catharina Rosenquist, business strategist.
During the visit, the Ministry gained insight into what makes Blekinge unique. The program included visits to world-leading companies such as NKT, Saab Kockums, and Volvo Cars in Olofström, with discussions ranging from technological innovations to sustainable industrial development. At Blekinge Institute of Technology, dialogues focused on how the region’s marine technology ecosystem and research-based innovations can enhance Sweden’s international competitiveness.
The days also featured discussions on future growth and collaboration through two roundtable meetings. One involved leading representatives from Blekinge’s municipalities, regional council, and county administrative board, focusing on how the public sector and industry can work together to strengthen Blekinge’s international role. The other meeting included some of the region’s prominent small export companies, discussing opportunities and challenges in today’s global trade in light of Sweden’s strategy for foreign trade and investments.
